Jesus' Ambiguous Answer to Judas (Matt 26:25)

Jesus' ambiguous answer to Judas' question about not being the betrayer is very clever. Judas knows that Jesus knows, and Jesus is giving him one last chance to change his mind by answering in such a way that the other disciples would not understand.

When The Perfect Comes the Partial will Pass Away : With Dr. Thomas Schr...

In this episode, Dr. Thomas Schriner discusses 1 Corinthians 13:10 and Ephesians 2:20. Dr. Schriner believes that 1 Corinthians 13:10 is the best argument for the continuation of the Gifts while he also maintains that Ephesians 2:20 is the best argument for the cessation of the Gifts. So in this video, our favorite cessationist explains how he interprets these to pivotal texts. Is Religious Freedom an Excuse for Discrimination?

You’re in a conversation and someone says, “Religious freedom is just an excuse for discrimination.” What would you say? Often, people assume that those who advocate for religious freedom really just want to be avoid the nondiscrimination laws that apply to everyone else. They assume that “religious freedom” is a way to make the rest of society live according to their rules. But is that true? Is religious freedom just an excuse to discriminate against others? No. And here are three reasons why. First, religious freedom is about upholding rights, not taking them away. Second, people who care about religious freedom have strong beliefs about what’s best for society, it’s what drives them to be good neighbors. Third, religious freedom is actually good for everyone, not just religious people, since societies with greater religious freedom are more tolerant of everyone’s beliefs. Wrong Again: Neil deGrasse Tyson Misrepresents Legacy of Sir Isaac Newton

Sir Isaac Newton is generally regarded as one of the greatest scientists who has ever lived. But did his work ultimately support a materialistic worldview and undermine belief in God? Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson seems to think so, claiming in his "Cosmos" series that Newton’s theories undercut the “need for a master clockmaker to explain the precision and beauty of the solar system.” But according to philosopher of science and bestselling author Stephen Meyer, Tyson is wrong about Newton. Meyer discusses Newton's real legacy for science and faith in his book, Return of the God Hypothesis: Three Scientific Discoveries that Reveal the Mind Behind the Universe. You can find out more at https://returnofthegodhypothesis.com/. Stephen C. Meyer received his PhD in the philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge. A former geophysicist and college professor, he now directs Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle. He has authored the New York Times best seller Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and the Case for Intelligent Design (HarperOne, 2013), Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design (HarperOne, 2009), which was named a Book of the Year by the Times (of London) Literary Supplement in 2009, and now, The Return of the God Hypothesis (HarperOne, 2021), a USA Today and Publisher's Weekly national bestseller. ============================ The Discovery Science News Channel is the official Youtube channel of Discovery Institute's Center for Science & Culture. Nehemiah 3 "Rebuilding and Community"

Nehemiah: A Season to Rebuild
#3 "Rebuilding and Community"
Nehemiah 3:1-32

We continue the story of Nehemiah picking it up in Chapter 3 as we see the people of God begin building the wall around the city of Jerusalem. Chapter 3 is usually skipped over since it reads like a phone book of ancient names but there is much to learn in this important chapter. Open your Bibles to Nehemiah Chapter 3 to learn what it means to rebuild by example and priority and rebuild with community, humility, family, and urgency.

Rebuilding by Example (3:1) Notice the High Priest and other priests go first, they lead by example, they're willing to roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty. As you think about your life and influence over others, what impact does your example have on others? Are there areas where your example needs to change? What areas are you not following Jesus' example in your life?

Rebuilding by Priority (3:1) The first area that is rebuilt is the sheep gate to prioritize the restorations of the sacrifices in temple worship. Why should worship be prioritized in our lives? What ways are your priorities consistent or inconsistent with God’s priorities?

Rebuilding with Community (3:2-4) Notice the repeated pattern throughout chapter 3 of after him, next to him, etc. The wall was divided into 40 different sections with everyone building together solider to solider. How are you working with other believers to help build the Kingdom?

Rebuilding with Humility (3:5) There were several nobles that refused to stoop to serve the Lord. They made the Bible for their unwillingness to serve God. Are there any areas in your life where you are refusing to stoop to serve the Lord? What areas of pride exist in your hearts and how do they manifest in your life?

Rebuilding with Family (3:12) There are several families that serve together in rebuilding the wall. Why is it important for families to serve together in ministry? How is your family ministering together? How can we encourage and support the families in our church?

Rebuilding with Urgency (3:8) There are several workers such as goldsmiths and perfumers that weren't stonemasons or carpenters but were willing to help where the need was. How are you responding to the needs in front of you?
-Elder/Deacon (We need new leaders who are willing to serve in this next season)
-CG Leaders (We need to start new Community Groups as things begin to open up)
-RVC Membership (We need to build the core of our church with those who are willing to serve, give, participate)
-Community Group involvement (We need to get more of our folks into Community Groups to be loved, served, and connected)
-Serving on the Worship Team (musicians wanted - Please talk with Ken Sabalza) or the Production Team (tech-wise folks needed - Please talk with Andrew Bierbaum)
-Children's Ministry (Steve Pratt will be reforming and relaunching RVC's Children's Ministry in this next season and needs folks willing to help teach and serve kids)

Where's the Justice for Floyd and Chauvin?

Who Chose the Books of the Bible?

You’re in a conversation and someone asks, “Who chose which books should be in the Bible? And what about the books that were left out?" What would you say? The Bible is a collection of many different writings that were written at different points in history. So how did we get this particular set of books? The next time someone asks how the books of the Bible were chosen, here are 3 things to remember: First, early faith communities accepted the texts that became the Bible because they understood that God was their ultimate author. Second, the decision to recognize a text as scripture was based upon multiple factors. Third, books that didn’t measure up were rejected because they didn’t meet the criteria. Thank you to Dr. Steven Sanchez for his contributions to this video. When can Christians divorce & remarry? - Wayne Grudem

The topic of divorce is a complicated one, even among Christians. The Bible provides some clear answers, but other areas remain blurry: Is divorce morally acceptable in a case of physical abuse? If a divorce is granted for biblically legitimate reasons, is remarriage allowed? Can a divorced person become a church officer? In this short booklet, theologian Wayne Grudem offers a thought-provoking analysis of what the Bible says—and doesn’t say—about divorce and remarriage. By combining theological insight with practical application, Grudem brings clarity to a difficult topic and helpful guidance to those looking for direction. Royal Priests of Eden

Did you know that Israel’s tabernacle tent was designed as a symbolic garden of Eden? And did you know that Adam and Eve were proto-priests who lived and worked in the sacred space? A Conversation with Pastor Tim Keller about Hope in Times in Fear

I am joined by Pastor Tim Keller to talk about his new book, Hope in Times of Fear: The Resurrection and the Meaning of Easter (Viking, 2021). We talk about wrestling with our mortality, how to order our loves in this life, and finding hope in the midst of suffering.

Pastor Timothy Keller is the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, which he started in 1989 with his wife, Kathy, and three young sons. For 28 years, he led a diverse congregation of young professionals that grew to a weekly attendance of over 5,000. He is also the Chairman & Co-Founder of Redeemer City to City (CTC), which starts new churches in New York and other global cities, and publishes books and resources for ministry in an urban environment. Dr. Keller’s books, including the New York Times bestselling The Reason for God and The Prodigal God, have sold over 2 million copies and been translated into 25 languages.
