Update on the Van Tine Family

Hey Everyone, many of you have already heard the news about what happened to us at our new rental in south Seattle but just in case you haven't already heard the story I wanted to include it here on my blog.

Just wanted to update for those who haven't heard the whole story about our crazy morning this past Wednesday. Kyle had left for an early meeting and I heard men's voices and banging on the front door. As I was opening my phone to call 911 thinking maybe there was an angry drunk person on the doorstep, I heard them yell that it was the police and to open the door, so I did. A whole swarm of officers in full protective gear came in and I had to get on the ground and then they handcuffed me. They assured me that I wasn't under arrest and let me know that they were serving a warrant related to a big crime ring of marijuana growers. They didn't know that there were new renters here, and they were very apologetic, especially about the kids. The girls did really well, just staying in their beds quietly while the officers were here. There was a federal DEA agent as well as some higher ups for the SPD Narcotics Section. Apparently they were hitting a bunch of houses that morning, and were very sorry to scare us. Our landlady is a suspect in this federal investigation, and they found evidence of a dismantled grow in the basement rooms we don't have access to. We were completely shocked. I held up pretty well when the officers were here, but definitely had a bit of a breakdown afterwards since it was pretty scary and overwhelming. I called Kyle and he came right home and helped me calm down and relax. The girls seem to be doing great, by God's grace. Please be praying for peace for us. And for wisdom about our living situation. On the upside, I have been assured that I now have major "street cred," so that's something. Shout out to our family and to our RVC church family for being awesome and supportive in the midst of all the crazy. Prayer, chocolate, ice cream, and laughter all help!
