Week #7 Love & War: Then and Now

------------- "I Am HEARD!" Ephesians 3:14-21 -----------

I preached this Sunday on the simple/paradoxical topic of prayer from Ephesians 3:14-21. It's been an interesting week studying, thinking and practicing a prayerful life of praying bold, audacious, God-honoring, sin-killing, people-transforming, kingdom-advancing prayers. God has been challenging me to stop praying for Him to simply maintain the status-quo and start praying big prayers for addictions to be broken, marriages to be reconciled, the lost to be saved, families to be transformed and legacies to be established for God's glory and our good!

I was thrilled to pray for a woman who had given her life to Jesus and was born again this Sunday and I hope and pray this message will continue to "bear fruit" in your life and the life of others.

Ephesians 3:1-13 "The Mystery Finally Revealed!"

I enjoyed getting the chance to preach through Ephesians 3:1-13 and examining Paul's words about the Mystery of Jesus and how it affects our lives practically. Check it out here.

Thankful for God's Amazing & Transforming Grace!

Thankful for God's amazing grace in the life of Summit View Church's Middle School Director, Steven Dowling. This is a short video testimony Steven shared with our church recently describing his conversion.

Encouraging article from Christianity Today about God's work in raising up new leaders in my generation ("Millennials") for the forward movement of the Gospel among an increasingly hostile and indifferent culture. Praise God! Lord, raise up more leaders to send into your harvest.

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more thana all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all GENERATIONS, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV)

The Church on the Great Mission of Reconciliation

Christians don't actively work towards reconciliation because of the fear of sanctification. In sanctification we are exposed for less than we present ourselves to be, repent and become all God made us to be but its painful, it isn't pretty and are natural inclination in the church is to homogenize, not diversify. - Paraphrase of Matt Chandler addressing the students at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS)

I Love the Northwest - Especially Seattle!

On a slightly different note for this blog, I've posted a time-lapse video showcasing the beauty of God's creation in and around Seattle and the Puget Sound. I love the Northwest!

The Quest for True Happiness

"No one can possibly escape unhappiness if they worship happiness as a god in itself and forsake the one true God, the true source and giver of happiness. In the same way, no one can escape hunger who licks at a picture of bread and does not eat for real, physical, sustaining bread"
(Augustine's The City of God paraphrased)
