The Civil Rights Act protects people who have certain benign traits that they have no control over and no ability to change, such as their skin color. The Equality Act, on the other hand, is about protecting people who follow certain behaviors. Regardless of whether or not you approve of those behaviors, we all know from human experience that behaviors change. You’ll never meet a former white person, but you will meet a former transgender male/female. People change, behaviors change. Don’t be misled, the Equality Act is not in equal standing with the Civil Rights Act.
