The Bible Was Written FOR Us But Not TO US

This is what I call The X-Files view of inspiration. That is that the Prophet wakes up one morning and he's making breakfast and all of a sudden, he's zapped, and his mind goes blank, he loses the use of his arms and hands. And something happens and he wakes up and he looks down and there's a scroll there. And he goes, "man, I can't wait to read what I just wrote." I have said to many audiences, if you strip the humanity out of this doctrine we call inspiration, you undermine it. Because what you actually find in the text doesn't conform to this picture.
