Why Asking “What Caused God?” Misses the Point

The objection, "if everything needs a cause, what caused God?" is a common response to arguments for God as the first cause of the universe, or cosmological arguments. It has been used by Bertrand Russell, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Lawrence Krauss, and many other atheists. This video gives a brief response to this objection, in defense of the cosmological argument, one of the most powerful arguments for theism.
