Week #5 A New Humanity
Ephesians 2:11-22
Reflect and Discuss
How does it affect you to “remember” your situation before you knew Christ (2:11-12)? How are you encouraged by meditating on your new status (12,19-22)?
How does this passage speak of a non-Christian (12,17,19)? What are your reactions to this description?
How does this passage emphasize the corporate nature of Christianity?
Explain the work of Christ in this passage.
Why do you think people object to the idea of substitutionary atonement? How would you defend this doctrine to a skeptic?
How does verse 18 relate to prayer? How should it affect our view of prayer?
Which of the three illustrations of the church in 2:19-22-citizens, family, or stones-made the biggest impact on you? Explain why.
How should this passage change the way we think about the church?
How does the Gospel create a multi-cultural, multi-ethic, multi-generational church body? What can the church do to promote racial diversity with the church body?
Why is a unified church a great witness to the unbelieving world?
