5 Ways to Be Productive
5 Productive Steps for Life in Self-Quarantine and Social Distancing
- Get Organized - "All things must be done properly and in an orderly manner." (1 Cor 14:40) Many of us are working from home, homeschooling for the first time, and trying to figure out what life in this season should look like. It's important to declutter and get organized around the house. Crystal and I use the Full-Focus Planner and Google Keep Notes and Calendars to stay on the same page, track tasks, share ideas, build to-do lists, and develop projects. There are millions of incredible resources out there, feel free to share the ones you have found most effective. https://www.lifehack.org/ https://michaelhyatt.com/ https://beyondthetodolist.com/ https://productivityist.com/category/podcast/ https://www.jeffsanders.com/the-5-am-miracle-podcast/
- Get Perspective - "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." (Col 3:2) While it's important to stay up to date with all the latest news and announcement, the media often stirs fears, confusion, and chaos. It's important to get perspective to starve the fear and feed your faith. If you're able, go out on a family walk or a bike ride, take some time to get away from the noise and regain some perceptive as you enjoy the sunshine and remember that God is in control.
- Get in the Word - "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105) If you're not already doing a daily bible reading plan, now is the time to get one going. I recommend either "Keep the Feast" or "Foundations: New Testament" as practical ways to get into the word each day. https://www.christkirk.com/biblechallenge/ https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/16363-keep-the-feast-bible-reading-challenge https://replicate.org/f260-new-testament-bible-reading-plan/ https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/13418-foundations-new-testament
- Get Connected - "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." (1 Thess 4:11) One of the challenges of this season of self-quarantine and social distancing is that it's important that we stay connected to one another. If you haven't already, text or call five other people in the church today to connect, encourage and pray for them. We're the church even when we cannot gather together or Sundays so lets take the opportunity to encourage and strengthen one another.
- Get Reading - "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Rom 12:2) In this time of self-quarantine and social distancing, I want to encourage you to renew your minds and not just conqueror your Netflix queue. This is a great opportunity to catch upon some good reading.
