You’re in a conversation and someone asks, “Who chose which books should be in the Bible? And what about the books that were left out?"
What would you say?
The Bible is a collection of many different writings that were written at different points in history. So how did we get this particular set of books?
The next time someone asks how the books of the Bible were chosen, here are 3 things to remember:
First, early faith communities accepted the texts that became the Bible because they understood that God was their ultimate author.
Second, the decision to recognize a text as scripture was based upon multiple factors.
Third, books that didn’t measure up were rejected because they didn’t meet the criteria.
Thank you to Dr. Steven Sanchez for his contributions to this video.

When can Christians divorce & remarry? - Wayne Grudem
The topic of divorce is a complicated one, even among Christians. The Bible provides some clear answers, but other areas remain blurry: Is divorce morally acceptable in a case of physical abuse? If a divorce is granted for biblically legitimate reasons, is remarriage allowed? Can a divorced person become a church officer? In this short booklet, theologian Wayne Grudem offers a thought-provoking analysis of what the Bible says—and doesn’t say—about divorce and remarriage. By combining theological insight with practical application, Grudem brings clarity to a difficult topic and helpful guidance to those looking for direction.

The Afterword [Episode 10: Kevin DeYoung]
In Episode 10 of the Afterword, our host Jonny Gibson talks with special guest Kevin DeYoung. Kevin has 3 books coming out in the next year or so, and as you might expect from him, they cover an incredibly diverse range of topics. The first one, “Men and Women in the Church” is essentially his “complementarianism 101 for a new generation.” It releases in April, but you can pre-order it today on our website for 50% off. His second book is a 400 page storybook bible illustrated by Don Clark (who he teamed up with on The Biggest Story) which is due in the fall. And the third book is an edition of two treatises on Justification and Regeneration by one of the founders of American Presbyterianism, John Witherspoon, that Kevin is introducing for our very own Westminster Seminary Press.

Royal Priests of Eden
Did you know that Israel’s tabernacle tent was designed as a symbolic garden of Eden? And did you know that Adam and Eve were proto-priests who lived and worked in the sacred space? In this video, we explore God’s plan for humanity to serve as royal priests over all creation and how the story of Jesus brings this priestly drama to its ultimate resolution.

For 28 years, he led a diverse congregation of young professionals that grew to a weekly attendance of over 5,000.
