Where Are You Living?
Where are you living? Where are you really living? Is your heart dwelling in the house that is marked with the scarlet cord in the window? With the blood across the doorpost and the lintel? That when the judgment comes, in that place and in that place only, you can be saved.
This clip is part of the sermon “A Scarlet Cord of Salvation” delivered by Dr. Kevin DeYoung at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, NC on August 25, 2024.

Author Mark Helprin: The Life of An American Novelist
Host Eric Metaxas and novelist Mark Helprin, whom Metaxas describes as the greatest living fiction writer, sit down for an intimate conversation on Helprin’s six decades of writing. The two discuss Helprin’s book themes, prose, and theology, and read excerpts from his bestselling book Paris in the Present Tense. The exchange includes many captivating stories, including Helprin’s tale of accidentally getting on the wrong bus that led to an Israeli rehabilitation center for criminals, which of course later makes it into his writing, and much more. This is part one of a two-part series.
This was taped in Charleston, South Carolina in April 2024.
James Emery White: Is Christ irrelevant in a post-Christian culture? • U...
What are the marks of a post-Christian culture and why is this significant? How do we engage in apologetics in this context? Are young people disinterested in religion or are we just attempting to answer questions they're not asking? Who are the "nones" and why are they on the rise? Dr James Emery White, founding and senior pastor of Mecklenburg Community Church and author of numerous books including The Rise of the Nones, shares his thoughts.

The Magician’s Twin, with David Berlinski, Stephen Meyer, and James Orr ...
Recorded on May 26, 2024, in Fiesole, Italy.
In his 1943 book The Abolition of Man, C. S. Lewis wrote: “The serious magical endeavor and the serious scientific endeavor are twins: One was sickly and died, the other strong and throve. But they were twins. They were born of the same impulse.” In this Uncommon Knowledge with Peter Robinson, mathematician and philosopher David Berlinski, intelligent design advocate Stephen Meyer, and Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religion at Cambridge University, James Orr explore the parallels between scientific and magical endeavors, referencing C. S. Lewis's notion that both were born from the same impulse, with one thriving and the other fading. They also explore the historical relationship between science and religion, noting how early scientists such as Newton and Galileo saw their work as uncovering divine order, in contrast with the more secular views of modern scientists such as Steven Weinberg and Stephen Hawking. The discussion also reveals deep philosophical and historical insights into the evolution of scientific thought and its complex relationship with materialism and religion.

Sam Parnia - Is Life After Death Possible?
Does everything about a person disappear at death? The body? Sure, it's gone. The brain? It stops working, then dissolves. But what about awareness? Does our consciousness end forever? Nothing could be more frightening! Is there any hope? Are there ways that, conceivably, our consciousness can survive the ultimate insult?

Demystifying the Quran Book, also spelled Qur'an, is the holy book of Islam, regarded by Muslims as the verbatim word of God (Allah) as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad over approximately 23 years, beginning in 610 CE. The revelations were delivered by the angel Gabriel (Jibril in Arabic) and are written in classical Arabic.

Living Forever | Stories Are Soul Food Episode 159
Will we tell stories in heaven? Nate says the answer is so obvious it's a dumb question. Brian tries to make him answer anyway. Instead, Nate talks about a sci-fi story he is working on in which nobody lives past age 18. Turns out storytelling is fundamental to humanity, and we should be living like it now. Then Brian brings up a related listener question about how to choose what you're doing with your life now: What happens if you're working a blue collar job but you want to go to seminary and you also want to write? Prepare for an episode of Life Advice with Nate:tm: , and you best believe he's not sympathetic to decision paralysis. Pick what you want to do, and do it. God doesn't steer a parked car. You'll often get Open Doors when you least expect it, because your life is a story, and you don't get to know what happens in the future. The conversation blasts off into a conversation about human nature and winning the lottery, and how we love to complain in the midst of richness. You'll also get to know Grandpa Kohl's slogan, "Better than I deserve," and how you should look for God's choicest wines in the cellar of affliction (Rutherford). You'll also notice we opened this week's SASF with a new song just for fun: Check out Aaron Rench's "Fences" streaming everywhere now.
